| Join us for the 2011 "ABC" 5K Run/Walk |
The ABC 5K is a powerful, tangible way you can take a stand against breast cancer.
 According to the American Cancer Society, approximately one in eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer at some point in her lifetime.
Unfortunately, that means it's very likely that each of us knows
someone who has or will have breast cancer. For us, our "someone" was
Laurie -- our daughter-in-law.
The ABC 5K came into being in 2008 when, after five years in remission, Laurie’s
cancer returned.
We cried, we hoped, we prayed and we decided to do something tangible
to help fund the research that might save her and others like her.
We lost Laurie on March 19, 2010 and, while we miss her terribly, we
are following her lead -- staying strong and fighting to make an impact! (She always
fought through her chemo and maintained her most important role as wife
and mother. Laurie continued to serve on the Pomfret Board of
Education, be a scout leader, and even earned a black belt in karate. )
Run or Walk -- Make a Real Difference
The proceeds from the ABC 5K go to the breast cancer research
department at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. We chose to support
Dana-Farber as we were very impressed with their commitment to
research. Our children don’t know what polio is, our goal is to
have our great grandkids not know what cancer is.
Last year we raised $8,000.00. This year, with your support, we would like to match or exceed this.
Research in one field of cancer also leads to decoding other forms of cancer.

- All entrants who pre-register will receive a t-shirt

- Participants with a minimum of $75 in pledges will have registration
fee waived. Pledges must be turned in prior to the start of the
